Beginner Sound Treatment:

“Blanket Fort”, Closet Studio, surround yourself with soft surfaces to absorb sound. Consider a pop filter to help catch mouth sounds. Only upgrade to sound panels and more expensive sound treatment when you’ve tried this for a bit and decided it’s worth the investment, many people have successful careers from Blanket Forts and Closet Studios!

Beginner Auditions:

CastingCall.club
CCC is the best place for amateurs to look for ‘character’ auditions (Animation and Video Games). Mostly unpaid ‘passion projects’ from amateurs, you’ll be in heavy competition, but you can book interesting projects. A lot of fan fiction, anime, YouTube, video game related opportunities. Uniquely, CCC lets you listen to other people’s auditions, so you can learn a lot here by carefully studying other people’s auditions.

Upgrading Your Microphone: Interface and XLR Mic

For a good balance of quality and value, I recommend the Focusrite Scarlett Solo. It's a popular choice and easy to use. Here's the Amazon link: https://amzn.to/3Geyygc

You'll need an XLR Microphone to make use of the Interface.

I recommend the following for people new to XLR's:

Shure MV7X Microphone: https://amzn.to/3ZXMT7r

or

RØDE NT1: https://amzn.to/3GsxvJs

But there are a LOT of options out there, so general recommendation is spend about $100 on an interface and about $200-300 on an XLR mic in this round, and decide in the future if you want to upgrade once you have done more research and know more about your voice, your recording space, your needs, etc.
