Anime Monologues for Auditions Vol. 4
Monologues train voice actors to make clear emotional choices fast. For anime auditions, they help performers practice intensity, comedic timing, vulnerability, and dramatic shifts without needing a scene partner. A strong audition monologue should reveal the character’s goal, relationship, conflict, and voice while giving the actor room to play.
Want to work with me one-on-one?
Thunder Before Breakfast — Niko Arashi, chaotic young swordsman
"Master, I heard you sigh from all the way across the courtyard. That means you’re about to say I rushed in again, and yes, technically, the roof is on fire. But look at the bandits! They’re running away! That counts as victory with minor architectural consequences. Don’t give me that eyebrow. I know I’m supposed to wait, breathe, observe, then strike. I did observe. I observed that they were stealing our rice. Then I struck. Very efficiently. Now hand me that bucket, because I can fix this before Grandmother wakes up. And if she does wake up, we tell her lightning did it. I am lightning, so it’s almost honest."
The Velvet Mask Cracks — Lady Seraphine, elegant hidden assassin
"Lower your blade, Duke. You already lost the moment you invited me to dance. Did you think silk made me harmless? Did you mistake courtesy for surrender? Every step we took across that ballroom placed you exactly where I wanted you. The chandelier above us, the guards facing the wrong doors, your hand trembling on that jeweled sword—it is all part of the waltz. Smile now. The court is watching, and pride is the only crown you have left. Confess what you did to my sister, or I let this music end with blood on the marble."
Small Star, Big Punch — Momo Kisaragi, cheerful tiny brawler
"Hey, giant! Down here! No, lower. Lower. There you go. I know I’m short, but that just means my punches have less distance to travel before ruining your day. You scared the market, smashed Mrs. Yamada’s melon stand, and made my little brother cry. That last one? Very poor life choice. I was going to forgive the melons. Maybe. But tears are expensive, and you owe interest. So put the cart down gently, apologize loudly, and prepare yourself. I’m giving you three seconds. One. Two. I skipped three because you looked smug."
Lanterns for the Lost — Renji Watanabe, weary spirit guide
"Stay behind me, child. The river spirits are hungry tonight, and they love the sound of frightened footsteps. Hold the lantern higher. Yes, like that. Your mother’s soul will see it and remember the path home. Don’t call out yet. Names have power here, and grief makes them sharp. I know you want to run to her. I did too, once. That is how the dead learn to keep us. But we are not here to join them. We are here to say farewell properly. When the mist opens, bow, smile if you can, and let go when I tell you."
Inkstorm Apprentice — Aya Mizuno, shy magical artist
"Please don’t touch that drawing, Professor. It bites when embarrassed. I know the dragon looks small, but I was nervous during the summoning exam, and apparently my nervousness has wings now. No, I’m not crying. My eyes are just full of artistic determination. You said magic needs confidence, but my hands shake every time everyone stares. So I started drawing what I couldn’t say. This little dragon? It’s my answer. It may be crooked, blotchy, and currently chewing your grade book, but it came from me. So I’m not erasing it. I’m finishing it."
The Pirate Queen’s Smile — Captain Runa Blackfin, fearless ocean rogue
"Throw me in chains if it makes you feel tall, Admiral. I’ve worn heavier jewelry. You call me a thief, but your empire steals islands and names it order. Me? I steal back maps, medicine, children pressed into service, and occasionally very expensive wine. Don’t look so offended. Your wine was boring. Now listen carefully. My crew is already aboard your flagship. That cannon blast you heard? Signal flare. That silence after? Your men realizing the powder room is full of sleeping gas. So unlock these cuffs, or keep talking while my ship sails away with your entire fleet."
Frost on the Stage — Yuna Hoshino, disciplined idol warrior
"Manager, cue the music. Yes, I can fight with a cracked rib. I’ve performed through worse choreography. Those monsters came for the crowd because they thought lights and glitter meant weakness. Let them learn the truth. Every fan out there raised a glowstick when I forgot my own courage. Every voice singing my name stitched me back together. So I’ll smile, I’ll spin, and when the beat drops, I’ll freeze those beasts to the ceiling. Don’t cancel the concert. Raise the volume. Tonight, the encore is a battlefield."
Rust Heart Awakening — Unit 47, loyal broken android
"Captain, your order is clear. Retreat, abandon the civilians, preserve military assets. My systems understand. My heart does not. You once told me that a soldier protects what cannot protect itself. Was that instruction false? My memory banks replay your voice every time a child screams beyond this barricade. I am damaged. My left arm is gone. My power core is unstable. But I can still stand in the gate for six minutes. Six minutes is enough for them to escape. Do not command me again. For the first time, Captain, I am choosing my mission."
The Villain’s Lunch Break — Professor Vex, dramatic mad scientist
"Assistant, stop screaming. The tentacle is friendly unless criticized. Besides, this is progress! Yesterday, the serum only turned sandwiches invisible. Today, it has given lunch ambition. Do you know how rare ambition is in bread? Put the net down. We are witnessing history with mustard. Once the Hero League sees my genius, they’ll regret rejecting my application. ‘Too unstable,’ they said. ‘Too many explosions,’ they said. Well, who’s laughing now? Not the sandwich, obviously. It has no mouth yet. Note that down. Improvement for phase two."
A Blade for Tomorrow — Haru Saito, gentle reluctant warrior
"Mina, don’t step in front of me. I know you promised to protect me, but promises can change shape. You taught me that. I carried this sword like a curse because I was afraid of becoming my father. Every time I drew it, I heard the battlefield he left behind. But today, I hear your voice instead. Breathe. Plant your feet. Choose what the blade defends. So I’m choosing you. I’m choosing the village. I’m choosing tomorrow, even if my hands shake reaching for it. Stand back now. I won’t run from my own strength anymore."
